What If You Ran Towards Your Struggles?

I love proving people wrong. I love beating the odds and pushing past perceived limitations. Heck, I simply love winning. But more than that, I love overcoming. I’m sure you and most everyone else does too…or at least the concept of it.

Yet, quite frankly, most people don’t win. They don’t overcome. At least not to the degree that they want to. And from what I’ve seen, the reason for this is quite simple: people don’t run towards struggle. Instead, it seems like the majority of people procrastinate, if not altogether try to avoid things that would lead to a struggle in any shape or form.

But the fact of the matter is that struggles are going to happen. And it’s better to run towards them and just get them out of the way than put ‘em off. All the way back in the 16thcentury, Machiavelli hit the nail on the head when he wrote that “you should never let things get out of hand in order to avoid war. You don’t avoid such a war, you merely postpone it, to your own disadvantage.”

I absolutely love this quote, because it’s a mindset. A mindset that has helped me in more ways than I can count.

Unfortunately, it’s a mindset that I believe most people lack. But it’s a mindset that anybody can develop. A mindset that everybody would benefit from.

Just think about it. What would the world look like if everybody actually ran towards their struggles? What would happen if you always ran towards your struggles instead of away from them?
