What If Roses Weren’t Red?

[Warning: This short post is almost all questions. It’s up to you to decide the answers.]

What if roses weren’t red? What if there wasn’t, past or present, a single red rose on the planet? I can’t help but wonder what kind of ripple effects that would have throughout time. For instance, poets wouldn’t be able to say “roses are red, violets are blue,” so what other simple rhyme would everyone know? Because “roses are turquoise” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

But if roses were always primarily turquoise, what would that mean? Would there be bouquets of turquoise roses at weddings, or would they find a predominantly red flower? Or perhaps turquoise would be the color of love instead of red?

If that were the case, what would red be the color of (aside from war and bloodshed)? How would that effect the fashion industry? Would people wear red clothes more or less often? Would Target keep their red logo, or make it turquoise or some other color?

I have so many questions, so few answers, and a curiosity that knows no bounds. So help me out by letting me know in the comment section what you think would happen if roses weren’t red.

Until next time.
